DOING THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENT
Come step outside the box at the 2010 Texas ALP Annual Education Conference in Austin on April 30th at the Wyndham Garden Hotel. For those of you who have registered, and those of you on the fence trying to decide whether you are going to attend or not, or you’ve never attended a Texas ALP Education Conference - we are planning several fun activities and planning on doing things just a little bit different.
Dress for this Annual Conference will be business attire.
After you check in at the registration table on Friday morning, there will be TALP Officer/Chairman Training followed by TALP committee meetings, which will take place from 9:00 to 10:30. This year, something old is returning and there will be an hour of chapter officer training from 10:30 to 11:30. This training will be invaluable whether you are new to your chapter board or have previously served.
On Friday afternoon we have the Welcome Lunch with our keynote speaker, three great CLE sessions, followed by the Open Forum. After that you will have a free night to visit with friends, make new friends, go out on the town, or whatever you’d like, before coming back to the hotel for the meet and greet at the EC suite. More details on the meet and greet will be forthcoming.
On Saturday, after a morning of three more CLE sessions, we will have our recognition lunch which recognizes the achievements of our newly certified members. Beginning at 2:00, we will start the Texas ALP business meeting. The installation of officers, announcement of the Legal Professional of the Year and Scholarship winner, as well as the presentation of the outgoing President’s gifts will be done immediately after the business meeting.
Then, go back to your room and put on your casual cruise-wear because we’re cruising downtown! The President’s Reception and Banquet will take place away from the hotel. We hope you will join us on the balcony of the 28th Floor of One Congress Plaza and enjoy light refreshments with a magnificent view of Austin. Immediately following the reception will be the Presidents’ Banquet Dinner Cruise on Lady Bird Lake.
Since these events are taking place away from the hotel, detailed driving instructions will be provided, and for those of you without transportation, we are working on providing carpools from the hotel to downtown.
We are trying to shake things up just a little bit, have a great amount of fun, and enjoy those things Austin has to offer.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Austin at the 2010 TALP Education Conference.
