When you join the tri-level association of Texas ALP, NALS . . . the association for legal professionals, and a local state chapter, you will have the opportunity to attend local chapter meetings where quality legal education may be offered every month. You also have the opportunity to attend state association meetings, where you will be exposed to some of the top legal experts in our state. At the NALS conferences, speakers from across the country address issues of national importance, enlightening NALS members with a national perspective. As a Texas ALP member, you will receive our publication, The Texas Docket. As a NALS member, you receive valuable legal education every month via the online publication, Leading the Way. NALS members also receive a quarterly publication, @Law, packed with legal articles.
Texas ALP supports members and chapters by providing:

Commitment. Dedication to the legal profession is shown by joining others with similar interests and experiences to promote ethics, professionalism, and excellence amount legal support professionals.
Continuing Legal Education. The legal profession is constantly changing. Legal personnel must be up to date with changes in law in order to maintain a high standard of performance and professionalism. The continuing education available to members keeps members informed and provides many opportunities for professional growth. Legal education seminars are held in conjunction with state meetings held twice a year, and monthly at the local level.
Job Banks through Local Chapters. Many local chapters have employment listings available only to members, providing as a free service to employers.
Leadership Opportunities. There are opportunities for both personal and professional growth through leadership and serving as committee members, chairmen, or officers. Any member may enhance leadership skills and become a future leader at all three levels through leadership programs offered at little or no cost to members.
Networking and Linking. The opportunity to share information and ideas with peers and to obtain business contacts is an added benefit of membership.
Publications. Most local chapters publish a newsletter keeping its members informed of upcoming meetings and educational opportunities. The Texas Docket, the Texas ALP quarterly publication contains legal education articles written by attorneys and provides information regarding state functions in an electronic format.
Recognition. Accomplishments are acknowledged through recognition programs and award presentations on the local, state, and national levels.

Certification. Accreditation is offered for everyone, whether beginning a new career or enhancing your current one. NALS offers members and nonmembers the opportunity to sit for three unique certifications dedicated to the legal services profession. The exams are of varying levels and are developed by professionals in the industry. ALS...the basic certification for legal professionals and PLS...the advanced certification for legal professionals are two certifications dedicated to legal professionals of all types. The third certification is dedicated to those professionals performing paralegal duties. The Professional Paralegal, (PP), certification was developed by paralegals for paralegals.
